Meta’s instant messaging application, “WhatsApp” has introduced a new feature that will allow its users use two two accounts on one mobile device. This means that, WhatsApp users can now login to two different accounts on their device at the same time.
With this new innovation, users can finally say goodbye to the stress of having to carry two devices with WhatsApp on them. Users can now separate their personal account from their work or business account on their device with this new feature.
Mark Zuckerberg took to his Facebook page to unveil this exciting development and assured users that the feature is set to arrive shortly.
Traditionally, individuals found themselves obliged to tote around a pair of phones if they wished to access two separate WhatsApp accounts. Nevertheless, WhatsApp is now pioneering a solution that empowers users to employ just one phone for both accounts.
Leading smartphone manufacturers such as Xiaomi and Oppo have previously offered app cloning features, granting users the ability to exploit multiple instances of WhatsApp.
How To Activate WhatsApp Double Account Feature
You can activate this new feature by following this simple steps:
To add a second account, users can navigate to the “Settings” menu and select “Add Account.” During the setup process, it’s essential to have either a second phone with a SIM card or a phone equipped with physical or eSIM capabilities for multi-SIM support. WhatsApp has confirmed that users will have the ability to independently manage notifications and privacy settings for each of their accounts.
WhatsApp Passkeys
Earlier in the week, WhatsApp also introduced the passkey feature that will allow users log in or unlock their accounts without relying on the SMS two-factor authentication. Instead, users will now get to use their PIN, fingerprint or face to unlock their accounts.
“Passkey verification will make logging back into WhatsApp easier and more secure,” said Head of Product at WhatsApp Alice Newton-Rex in a statement. “We’re excited to launch this on WhatsApp and give users an added layer of security.”
WhatsApp has been actively introducing a slew of new features in recent months. They recently launched “Flows” to enhance the shopping experience, allowing users to perform tasks like reserving a flight seat or scheduling appointments within the app. They also made their broadcast Channels feature available worldwide and introduced a new native Mac app.
While not all companies have adopted this technology, it is gaining traction. TikTok introduced passkey support for iOS in July, and PayPal followed suit in October 2022. Just last week, Google made passkeys the default sign-in method for all users after globally implementing support for passkeys for Google accounts back in May.
Passkey log-ins offer increased security by making it more challenging for unauthorized users to access your accounts, as they would require physical access to your phone. This technology eliminates the need for traditional username and password combinations, which are vulnerable to phishing and other security issues.
